Dear Readers,
There is a show that came out on Netflix about one year ago called, Stranger Things. Similar to my XOXO review, I think that Stranger Things is the best Netflix original television series to date. I am going to break this review down to three categories: acting, writing, and music.
The acting in Stranger Things is truly fantastic! My two favorites from the show are: Winona Rider and Millie Bobby Brown. Winona Rider is already a well established actress and she is expected to be fantastic. She does live up to the hype and beyond. She acts with so much passion to the point that I think that she is that character and she genuinely feels emotional about her son Will (I will try not to spoil anything). She was really great! Another really great actress from the show was Millie Bobby Brown who played Eleven on the show. She is only thirteen years old and is already one of the best actors that I have ever seen perform. She did not have many lines on the show because her character is almost mute on the show, but she delivers those few lines with such greatness that the viewer knows the intent of those lines. Overall, Millie Bobby Brown is such an awesome person on and off the set. There are many other great actors and actresses on the show, including the four (three) main boys on the show who drive the storyline.
The writing of Stranger Things is second to none! I don’t know how the writers do it, but the storyline and the writing of each of the eight episodes really engages the audience. You really believe that you are in the 1980’s town solving the biggest mystery that the town as ever witnessed. I hope that there are the same writers for season two, coming around October 2018.
The music of the show is incredible! You get hooked on the show and are in the zone, right when you hear the theme music at the start of each episode. The theme is almost at the level of being as iconic as the themes to Seinfeld or Friends in my opinion. When someone hears the music, they will almost instantly recognize what show it is and they will smile.
Stranger Things is one of those rare shows that is so fantastic that you forget about everything when you watch it. The storyline, the actors, the eighties theme, the music, and even the waffles 🙂 engross you the whole time you’re watching. I’d rate Stranger Things a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes! I would highly recommend that everyone watch Stranger Things!
